The British Angels Get Ready For Action
The British Angels: Donna Harrison, Melanie Wright, and Penny Buckel; joined the releasing programme of the Petungsewu Animal Rescue Centre. The centre, next door to P-WEC, engaged them to help the Javan langurs’ release at Hyang mountains East Java in August 2007. Despite the steep and winding roads to the release site, the girls were excited to escort the langurs find their freedom back.
The angels’ activities should have included the voluntary works at the animal rescue center, like cleaning enclosures, feeding the animals, helping the vets, etc. Instead, they got a rare but valuable experience to get involved in wild animal release programme that happened once in a while. They were very lucky.
During the process, they were very cooperative and got along well with the local rescue centre team who had different backgrounds. Thus, no difference could stop human to fight for wildlife’s freedom.
Bravo British angels!
