Learning about Raptors, Merubetiri National Park Officials Visit P-WEC
At the end of 2010, December 30 to 31, P-WEC was visited by some officials of Merubetiri National Park, a national park situated in Eastern Java which became the habitat of the last Javan tiger. Their coming was intended to learn more about raptors (birds of prey) at P-WEC since the complex is known as an education center for wildlife and forest conservation. Apart from that, the national park is the natural habitats for some endangered raptors like Javan hawk-eagle, sea eagle, and black eagle.
The training was led by ProFauna's senior birdwatcher and also the organisation's co-founder, Made Astuti. She has been birdwatching since 1990s and did comprehensive research on the Javan hawk-eagle population in East Java. The participants were enthusiastic to pay attention to Astuti's presentation and follow the question and answer session.
Besides having the introduction to raptors, the national park officials were also given fun outward bound activities like fun and high rope games, guided by P-WEC's experienced facilitators. In P-WEC, learning about wildlife and forest conservation is always fun and having recreational activities there is supporting the works of the conservation itself.
